HR Employee-Headcount Ratio Calculator

Formula

Employee-HR Ratio = Total Employees ÷ HR Employees

Example Calculation

If a company has 500 employees and 5 HR employees:

500 ÷ 5 = 100

Employee-HR Ratio = 100 : 1

This means approximately 1 HR professional supports 100 employees.

Note: This calculator provides an indicative ratio only. Appropriate HR staffing can vary depending on company size, industry, business model, locations, employee mix, HR technology, and the complexity of HR operations.

Example Calculation

A company has 750 employees and 6 HR professionals.

750 ÷ 6 = 125

Employee-HR Ratio = 125 : 1

This means approximately 1 HR professional supports 125 employees.

Disclaimer

This calculator provides an indicative ratio only. A higher or lower ratio does not by itself indicate whether an HR team is adequately staffed.
